Hope

FaithYesterday was about as hard as it gets for a mother. About as hard as it gets for my boy, too. A day of rock bottoms and broken hearts that brought us to our knees—-which happens to be a most beautiful place.

I tuned out the world I drove and I grieved and I prayed.

As I prayed, miracles happened. Seemingly little things that are big things to me. I pulled over into a grocery store parking lot to wait and I was startled by a knock on my window. There was a lady exclaiming that she had been following me for some time, trying to get my attention.

“there is a baby Chickadee clinging to your back bumper for dear life!”

I hopped out to see and we both marvelled that the fragile thing survived.

I instantly thought of the words of Jesus.

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

I smiled with all my heart and soul. I gently picked her up, made a little nest for her in the cupholder and went to pick up my son.  The broken boy that I dropped off was now standing tall and had that peace of God that surpasses all understanding. I showed him our little feathered messenger and he grinned knowingly and named her Faith.  As we drove home we both rejoiced and he told me of the wonderful things God had done for him and all the while the little bird sang us songs of praise.

Yes! Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul, and sings the tune without the words, and never stops at all!

  4. Wow! Sometimes God speaks so loud and clear we’d have to be idiots not to see Him and mostly we have to listen for the still small voice…I’m glad you both heard Him today!
